Malé City Mayor Adam Azim has departed for Beijing, China, to attend the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Asian Mayors Forum, which is taking place from June 11 to 13. He is accompanied by Deputy Mayor Mohamed Areesh.
The forum, themed “Coordinated Innovation: Building Low-Carbon and Sustainable Cities of the Future,” brings together urban leaders from across Asia to discuss solutions for sustainable development, inclusive governance, and climate resilience.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mayor Azim described the forum as a valuable opportunity to learn from and share experiences with other Asian cities facing similar urban challenges. “We hope to bring back useful information to strengthen our community,” he said.
The event aims to promote international cooperation and empower local governments to pursue sustainable development goals. Mayor Azim has participated in previous editions of the forum as well.
