Sun Travels has been rebranded and relaunched as an online platform to promote the wider tourism sector in the Maldives, opening its services to guesthouses, hotels, safari vessels, and other operators.
The new brand was unveiled Thursday evening at a ceremony held at Sun Siyam Olhuveli, attended by Sun Siyam Group Chairman and Managing Director Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Sun Travels officials, and senior representatives from tourism agencies.
The rebranded Sun Travels will allow all tourism businesses to showcase and book services through a single platform, creating new opportunities for growth across the industry.
At the ceremony, Sun Siyam Group Deputy Managing Director Zulaikha Manik reflected on her journey since joining the company in 1996, crediting Siyam’s leadership for guiding her early steps in tourism. She said the same vision of inclusivity and support underpins the new Sun Travels platform, which aims to strengthen local tourism.

Siyam, meanwhile, shared his entrepreneurial philosophy, recalling how he differentiated his travel agency model in a crowded market, growing capital to MVR 100 million within two years. “Anyone can do business because others are doing it. That does not lead anywhere. The model should be differentiated. One of the models is here again,” he said.
He emphasized that the new Sun Travels is not about promoting his own ventures alone, but about creating shared success:
“I welcome everyone to put all available beds in this portfolio. For all guest houses in the country! For all hotels! For all the beds! We welcome everyone without discrimination!”

Founded in 1990, Sun Travels began as an inbound tour operator and has since become one of the Maldives’ most advanced tourism companies, with strong global partnerships. The rebranding follows Sun Siyam Group’s broader transformation unveiled on September 1 to mark its 35th anniversary.
The group currently operates five resorts in the Maldives, Siyam World, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, Sun Siyam Iru Veli, and Sun Siyam Olhuveli, as well as Sun Siyam Pasikudah in Sri Lanka.
