Maldivian, the national carrier, has delivered 3.8 tonnes of essential goods to Sri Lanka under a relief initiative led by the Mahaldeeb Foundation. Partnering with Meegaath, the shipment provided critical supplies to aid recovery from Cyclone Ditwah.
The Maldives was the first nation to mobilise support, with Public Service Media launching a telethon under the banner of 'Ceylon aaeku Dhivehin' to coordinate contributions. Donations from ministries, companies and citizens raised USD 834,843.98, formally handed to the Sri Lankan government.
Sri Lankans expressed gratitude, while migrant workers in the Maldives held a public gathering to acknowledge the timely assistance.
