President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Sh. Goidhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and heads of local institutions to discuss the island’s key development priorities. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Goidhoo Council.
During the meeting, council members raised concerns regarding the prolonged halt in the construction of an eight classroom building at the island’s school and urged its completion. They also raised concerns over the limited space at the harbour and health centre, and called for the expansion of sports facilities to better serve the community.
Further, the council proposed improvements to the island’s electricity network, particularly to support agricultural and tourism zones, and sought Government assistance to address coastal erosion affecting three areas of Goidhoo.
President Dr Muizzu assured participants that the Government would give due consideration to their concerns. He was accompanied by Cabinet ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, who also provided updates on ongoing development projects.
