National identity card printing and issuing services, along with passport issuing services, have been expanded to Raa Atoll as part of the government’s initiative to expand the service across the Maldives.
The service was officially launched during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing visit to islands of Raa Atoll, at a meeting with the residents of Ungoofaaru. The service was inaugurated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan and Raa Atoll Council President Hussain Nasif.
While Ungoofaaru is the capital island of Raa Atoll, it serves as a hub with significant daily movement of people for various needs. Therefore, the government believes the introduction of such an important public service on the island will bring great convenience to the people of Ungoofaaru and other islands in the atoll.
