President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has described Australia as an important partner in the Maldives’ development.
The President made the remarks in a message shared on social media to mark Australia Day.
In his message, President Muizzu extended heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to Governor- General Sam Mostyn, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the Government of Australia and the people of Australia on behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives.
The President noted that the Maldives deeply values Australia as a close partner in development, highlighting the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries.
He also wished the people of Australia success, good fortune and continued progress and prosperity.
Australia Day is celebrated annually on 26 January, marking a significant national occasion for the country. Maldives and Australia established diplomatic relations of January 25, 1974.
