The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, has presented the exequatur to the newly appointed Honorary Consul of France to the Maldives, Fathimath Zuraig Mohamed.
The ceremony was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malé.
Following the formal presentation, Dr Khaleel congratulated Ms Zuraig on her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to carry out the responsibilities of the role. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties between the Maldives and France, particularly in areas such as tourism and trade.
Ms Zuraig thanked the Minister and said she was honoured to take up the position. She pledged to serve French nationals residing in and visiting the Maldives, and expressed her intention to work closely with Maldivian authorities to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Honorary Consuls are appointed by their governments to provide consular assistance and promote relations in the host country.
With the presentation of the exequatur, Fathimath Zuraig Mohamed has formally assumed her duties as the Honorary Consul of France to the Maldives.
