Elections Commission (EC), on Wednesday, revealed Maldives Police Service have assured that the authority will not obstruct any lawful activities carried out by political parties.
EC had earlier met with the police on regarding all parties fairly during lawful political activities.
EC member Ahmed Akram stated that the police ensured during the meeting, that the authority will not hinder any of the political activities carried out lawfully.
However, Police had obstructed main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) from putting up campaign posters on Tuesday.
With three months until the upcoming presidential elections, opposition parties have been expressing concern over obstacles faced during their campaigns, including renting state-owned property to hold political party events and rallies.
