Chairperson of MDP, Ali Waheed has said that they will stop coming out to the streets if a public referendum is held to see the support of the people regarding the government.
Ali Waheed made this remark at a press conference held at MDP office yesterday. He said that MDP lost in the recent elections because MDP was focused on saving President Nasheed.
Ali Waheed said that that the President is scared to compete with MDP even in the less populated island of Vaavu atoll Thinadhoo and Noonu Atoll Miladhoo.
Ali Waheed strongly criticized the government's actions. He said that the government has been "bending" the rules, to completely obliterate MDP, within an ulterior motive to wipe out the party, as well as any of the political opponents.
He said that he is certain that the government will be defeated easily if a referendum is to be held.
If public referendum is held we will not come out to the streets- Ali Waheed
