Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has stated that the Party will bring to Male’ all those who wished to join the 12th June mass rally against the Government.
MDP stated that they would not exclude anyone from the move, even if the numbers from individual islands are quite minimal.
In the rally held in MDP Haruge last night, MDP stated that even though the Government were jailing opposition leaders, they would work to ensure that their initiative would not be halted. The Party added that they would work until a just, fair government was established in the nation.
Last night’s speakers had called on the Government to release Adhaalath Party (AP) President Sheikh Imran Abdullah, former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim and called on the Government to cease the injustices perpetrated against Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim.
MDP stated that many would go on the streets on 12th June to ensure that their rights are being upheld, with many of them coming from the islands.
