Except for 25 individuals، the remaining individuals who were detained during opposition’s mass protest، “Mayday”، on May 1 have been released، says Maldives Police Service.
Stating that remaining all are under investigation، Police stated only 25 remain in Police custody.
A total of 193 individuals were detaining during the protest، of which 173 were remanded in Police detention. However، 148 were released.
Most of the protesters were detained for physically assaulting the Police by throwing pavement bricks and water bottles. So far، 13 individuals have been arrested، suspected of assaulting the Police officer during the unrest.
