Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Maumoon Hameed said that the twenty six points noted from the case and submitted at the High Court are very important points.
He said that the hopes are very high for winning the case if a just trial is proceeded based on those points.
“I do not believe that Nazim is guilty of the charges against him by the state. I believe he is innocent,” he said.
Meanwhile, he announced that the former Attorney General Husnu- Suood shall represent Nazim in his appeal hearings at the High Court.
Former Defence Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim was sentenced to 11 years in prison after he was found guilty of importing and harboring weapons.
Charges were pressed against Nazim after police during a raid on his residence on January 18 confiscated a 9mm pistol, three bullets, magazine, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and an incriminating pendrive. State prosecutors had said during trial that the information retrieved from the pendrive proved Nazim had planned attacks on key state officials including President Abdulla Yameen, Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb and Police Commissioner Hussein Waheed.
