Survey begins for Nolhivaram road development project

The survey work required to commence the practical work of upgrading the roads of Nolhivaram in Haa Dhaalu Atoll to modern standards has begun by the Road Development Corporation (RDC).
Road development projects across the islands are among the key initiatives being carried forward by the Government with special focus on developing the atolls. This particular project, carried out under the PSIP programme, is valued at approximately USD 3,241,750 and is scheduled to be completed within 720 days.
RDC stated to PSM News that the work currently underway includes topographic, geotechnical, and hydrological surveys required under the design and build phase of the project.
As part of the Nolhivaram road development project, two roads in the island, totalling 1.78 kilometres will be upgraded.
The scope of the project includes establishing a stormwater management system to address flooding issues, as well as laying the aggregate base course prior to asphalt works.
Additionally, works will include constructing pavements, installing drainage systems, levelling utility junctions with the road surface, and installing street lighting.
RDC further noted that, to ensure the safety and security of residents, road markings, zebra crossings, speed breakers, and signage boards will also be installed.
The corporation highlighted that this project will significantly improve the condition of Nolhivaram’s roads and provide greater ease and convenience for residents in their daily travel.
