A woman has been arrested after allegedly swallowing drugs on her while being frisked by the Police.
The incident took place in Th. Thimarafushi.
Maldives Police Service said the 40-year-old woman was arrested under a court order on Tuesday during a joint operation conducted by Narcotics Intelligence and Thimarafushi Police.
The Police said an object fell from the woman's body during a body frisk, following which she quickly picked it up and swallowed it. Upon recovery and examination, the item was found to be a rubber packet believed to contain drugs.
The woman has been remanded in custody for 30 days.
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
