The Criminal Court has issued a 15-day detention order for an Indian citizen accused of assaulting a person near Maafannu Cemetery on Handhuvaree Hingun.
The individual has been identified as Ramesh Ravi, who was arrested at 5:33 PM on the 1st of this month, just minutes after the assault occurred at 5:15 PM in the same area.
According to the court order, Ramesh will be held in a custodial jail until July 17. The court stated that the detention is necessary under the Maldivian Constitution and Criminal Procedure Code to ensure public safety and security.
Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
