Immigration Officers Complete Specialized Training to Enhance Airport Security

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has conducted a two-day training program for 25 immigration officers stationed at Velana International Airport.
The training focused on improving officers’ ability to detect fraudulent travel documents using Verifier TD&B technology and identify impostors at border checkpoints. It also covered enhanced information sharing through the DESC platform and strengthening trend analysis capabilities.
The program concluded with a ceremony attended by Japanese Ambassador Ishigami Rumiko, Immigration Controller General CP (Retired) Ahmed Faseeh, and MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed.
Maldives Immigration described the initiative as a crucial step towards strengthening airport security and enhancing border control operations nationwide.
