MNDF assists four Addu households after roofs are blown off during late‑night and early‑morning storms

Four houses in Addu were assisted by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) after their roofs were blown off during a storm.
The roof of one house in Hithadhoo was torn off around 23:20 on Tuesday night, followed by the roofs of three more houses in the same district on Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported.
Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar told Sun that four houses had been affected and that some trees were also damaged. He said the situation has since been brought under control and the affected homes have been stabilised. Although it rained in the morning, the weather later cleared.
Addu has experienced similar incidents in recent years. The roof of a house in Maradhoo‑Feydhoo collapsed during heavy rain on September 8 last year. Earlier, on November 30, the roofs of five houses in Addu were blown off, forcing 13 people into temporary shelters.
