According to the announcement, the Corporation is seeking eligible and qualified bidders for the construction of a residential building in Hulhumale’ Phase II under a contractor finance basis.
Interested parties have been instructed to register for the bid via an online form before 15:00pm on January 12th. The registration requires a non-refundable registration fee of MVR 30,000 or USD 2,000.
Once payment is confirmed, a complete set of bidding documents will be issued to registered bidders. Each bidder must submit a bid security of MVR 2,000,000 or its equivalent in USD, valid for 120 days from the bid opening date.

The design and consultancy work related to the residential building, ‘Niam Residence’, has been contracted to Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC). In this regard, FDC will be providing renderings for the residential building under an agreement signed last September.
Notably, the Hajj Corporation acquired a 5,700 square foot land plot in Hulhumalé Phase I back in November.
Hajj Corporation bought the land plot in Hulhumalé Phase I from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for MVR 21,510,876.80, and the land title has since been transferred to the Corporation. While the Corporation has yet to reveal the intended use of the plot, it is likely that the site will be developed into an office building.
Established in 2013 via a presidential decree, Hajj Corporation is a fully government-owned company. Its main mandate is to provide best arrangements for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage for the citizens of the Maldives, a hundred percent Muslim country, and to ensure that the payments made in this regard are received and handled with honesty.
The Corporation is presently undertaking efforts to venture into tourism. In this regard, the company has made an announcement seeking a party to develop a city hotel in K. Maafushi, inviting local and international contractors to submit proposals for the project, which is being developed under its newly formed subsidiary, Maafushi Islamic Tourism Pvt Ltd (MIT).
Finance Minister Moosa Zameer initially voiced opposition to the plan, citing that he does not believe that the Hajj Corporation venturing into the hotel or guesthouse business can produce a “good outcome.” He advised the corporation to reconsider the plan.
Although the Corporation initially decided to drop the plans, the Corporation later posted an announcement seeking a contractor to build the hotel.
