Statistics publicized by Maldives Police Service shows that 67 accidents were reported from Male’, Sinamale’ bridge and highway last week alone.
Road accidents continue to be a major concern in the Male’ area. To highlight the seriousness of the issue, police release weekly statistics on accidents reported in Malé, the Sinamalé Bridge, and the highway.
Last week alone, a total of 67 accidents were recorded across these areas, with 56 of them reported from Malé.

The highest number of accidents was recorded on Tuesday with 13 cases, followed by Wednesday with 12.
According to the Police, just one accident resulted in serious injury, with no serious injuries reported in the remaining 66 cases. However, the 67 accidents collectively caused damage to 87 vehicles.
Of the reported accidents, 19 involved motorcycle-to-motorcycle collisions, 19 involved collisions between cars and motorcycles, and six involved car-to-car collisions.
The majority of accidents occurred during the daytime, at 46, while 21 accidents took place at night.
Notably, accidents in Male’ area has claimed lives and left individuals with permanent disabilities.
