Former President Mohamed Nasheed had thanked world leaders who chad brokered his release to fly to UK for spinal surgery.
Many newspapers have quoted Kerafa Ahmed Naseem, who had conveyed President Nasheed’s thanks to the leaders. He added that Nasheed had not met Sri Lankan media but had met local doctors and sought opinion on the surgery.
Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon had stressed that the Government’s decision to send Nasheed abroad for medical treatment was not due to outside influence.
