Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham has said that in the past two years the Government had facilitated education opportunities for 2892 students.
She made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to award the scholars with their scholarships.
Minister Shiham said that opening education opportunities for a thousand students every year was a key pledge of the President and that the pledge had been carefully fulfilled over the two years.
In her address, Dr. Shiham appealed to students to make the best use of the opportunities given to them. She added that the students chosen for the scholarship were extremely lucky and therefore should make the best use of the opportunity given to them.
Dr. Shiham also appealed to the students to adhere to traditional and cultural values, along with respect and love for Dhivehi language, culture, history and customs. She said that the responsibility of this heavy duty fell onto the parents and as such, should be carefully fulfilled.
