High Court dismisses Nasheed’s lawsuit

High Court on Monday dismissed the lawsuit filed by former president and opposition leader Mohamed Nasheed، questioning the legitimacy of Hulhumale Court judges adjudicated for his case.
President Nasheed filed a lawsuit questioning the legitimacy of the bench of Hulhumale’ Court judges appointed by JSC to oversee the charges pressed against him for detaining Criminal Court chief justice Abdulla Mohamed during his Presidential term.
The case against him was withheld due to the lawsuit filed.
JSC has said judges panel was appointed as per advice of Supreme Court، and stated High Court could not look into a matter which has already been done under Supreme Court’s direction.
The verdict of High Court states the lawsuit of Nasheed was filed with reference to a circular issued by the Supreme Court، however، it cannot proceed any further at the court.
The verdict of High Court ends the suppression of the trial of Nasheed at the Hulhumale’ Court، and it can be proceeded at the Criminal Court.
