Prosecutor General’s Office on Monday withdrew the charges pressed against former president and opposition leader Mohamed Nasheed in Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court.
Reports say the case was withdrawn for PG office to re-evaluate and further probe the case of President Nasheed،
The state pressed charges against Nasheed for unconstitutional imprisoning of the chief justice of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed (Abdulla Gaazee) for 21 days during Nasheed’s presidential term.
Meanwhile the charges against others along with Nasheed have all been withdrawn by the PG Office for further evaluation and investigation.
The others pressed with the same charges are، current Defense Minister Major General (Retired) Moosa Ali Jaleel، who was the thenChief of Defense Force، Central Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi، who was the then MNDF Male Area Commander، and Tholath Ibrahim Kaleyfaanu، who was the then Defense Minister.
