The case against former Head of Police Intelligence Department Chief Superintendent of Police Mohamed Hameed has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office requesting for prosecution.
Media Official of PG Office Hussain Nashid said that the charges against Hameed requested by the police are regarding providing information to a report by former Minister Ameen Faisal on the change of former President Mohamed Nasheed’s government.
The police said earlier that Hameed was suspected of providing false information, important police information, and information related to national security which he had obtained while he held the post of Head of Police Intelligence, for the benefit of a particular group of people.
Nashid said that studies into the case showed that more information is required from the police, and a request in this regard had now been made from the police.
Hameed has been dismissed from the police force. He has filed a case regarding his dismissal to Civil Court.
