New Resort Islands will Create Over 18,000 Jobs: Tourism Minister

Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed has revealed that with the development of the new resorts, over 18,000 jobs in the industry will be created.
at the ‘Viavathi Raajje’ conference, the tourism minister stated that the islands opened for tourism will be announced soon and while selecting islands for tourism, the minister said that priority was given to ensure tourism activities are undertaken in the southernmost and northernmost regions of Maldives.
Viavathi Raajje aims to create awareness among councilors on the challenges of governance and the development of constituencies while assisting councilors to assume their new roles and responsibilities through the transition.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih chaired all sessions of the conference while panelists at the sessions included the Speaker of the Parliament and former President, Mohamed Nasheed, cabinet ministers and senior officials of the government.
During the sessions, councilors shared their experiences and question and answer sessions were also conducted allowing councilors to query panelists on pertinent issues.
