Parliamentarian Colonel (Retired) Mohmed Nazim has left Jumhooree Party (JP), revealing his wish to widely serve the country by forming a new political movement.
In his letter sent to Qasim Ibrahim, the leader of JP, Nazim said he decided to leave JP to form a new political party. In the letter, he thanked the support he received from the leadership of the party and the members.
Meanwhile, his close ally, Parliamentarian Riyaz Abdulla has also left JP and would join Nazim to form the new political movement.
Nazim previously served as the Minister of Defence. He first became the Defence Minister on February 8, 2012, under the presidency of Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik. He retired from active service of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) on January 15, 2011.
