Fayyaz Dawood, a resident of Thulhaadhoo, Baa Atoll, who was previously reported to be in critical condition and on a ventilator after an explosion in Munich, Germany, in August, has tragically passed away on Sunday.
The victim, who sustained severe injuries in the incident on the 8th of last month, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday while receiving treatment in the ICU of Bogenhausen Hospital in Munich, where he was on a ventilator.
A close friend of Fayyaz informed Sun on Sunday that Fayyaz's condition had initially shown improvement after being on the ventilator. However, he suddenly deteriorated on Sunday and passed away.

"He was taken off the ventilator. But later he became too unwell again and was put back on. Then we received a call on Sunday, stating his blood oxygen was falling, followed by the news of his passing," the friend recounted.
According to Fayyaz’s friend who spoke to Sun, Fayyaz sustained serious injuries in the incident, including 50 percent body burns, severe damage to his calves, and head trauma.
The cause of the incident remains unknown at this time.
Fayyaz is recognized as one of the pioneering kitesurfers in the Maldives and had been residing in Germany, where he was married to a local resident.
