Police have launched an investigation into a social media threat made against Foreign Minister Dr Abdullah Khaleel.
While the details of the incident have not been disclosed, Maldives Police Service said the matter had come to their attention, and confirmed that authorities are investigating the matter.
It has been reported that the threat was made during the Foreign Minister’s official visit to Sri Lanka. The individual responsible is believed to be a Sri Lankan citizen who was previously deported from the Maldives.
