Dhivehi Surf League being held at L.Maabaidhoo 'Machine' surfspot

The MSA (Maldives Surfing Association) has signed an MOU with the L. Maabaidhoo Council to host one of the Dhivehi Surf League's 2025 competitions in L. Maabaidhoo.
The competition, which will be held at Maabaidhoo's famous "Machine" wave, will be conducted under the name "Kerandhoo."
"L. Atoll is one of the most beautiful surf regions in the Maldives. Bringing this competition to L. Maabaidhoo has been a long-awaited event for both the island's residents and the surfing community. We hope to see more talented athletes surfing from this region with this DSL event," said MSA President Mohamed Sobah.
Although the league was initially planned to begin this month with the Kalhehgalekoda competition, the cancellation of that event in GD. Gadhdhoo has delayed the start of the league.
When MSA published the new league schedule yesterday, there are three competitions planned for this year. The league will begin in July with the Mulikolhu Wave competition in M. Muli. Following that, the Kerandhoo competition will be held in early September.
The final competition scheduled is the Rannamari Challenge, to be held at Raalhugandu in Male'. Only athletes who have competed in both the Mulikolhu Wave and Kerandhoo competitions will be selected for this event.
This year's league winner will be determined by the combined results of an athlete's two highest scoring competitions out of the three.
This is the first time a league competition has been held in L. Atoll. Since establishing the national league in 2022, MSA has held competitions in GDh. Gadhdhoo, M. Muli, Male', as well as R. Kinolhas, K. Himmafushi, and K. Thulusdhoo.
