Maldives Hajj Mission departs for Saudi Arabia

The Maldives’ Hajj Mission, comprising 10 members, has departed for Saudi Arabia.
The team will ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed before pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia. This includes checking preparations related to accommodation in Mecca, Hajj rituals, transportation, food, and healthcare services, and ensuring they meet the standards set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj.
Sheikh Imthithau Abbas, the Director General of Maldives Zakat House, has been appointed head of the pilgrims’ affairs office in Mecca for this year. The Mecca office operates under the annual Hajj Mission and oversees all arrangements for pilgrims during the pilgrimage.
Dr Ilyas Hussain, a member of the Supreme Council for Fatwa, will serve as the lead Sheikh for Maldivian pilgrims during this year’s pilgrimage.
PSM journalist Aminath Shaziya, who has over nine years of experience in journalism, is also part of the Hajj Mission and will be involved in reporting from Mecca.
The first group of pilgrims from the Maldives is scheduled to depart on 15 May.
