Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the MDP government also lost their legitimacy when the coalition formed during the 2008 election broke apart.
Nasheed made this remark at the public rally held near Seagull last night. He said that the Coni report mentions this in their investigation of the transition of power on 7 February 2012.
“Today the same thing. The validity of President Yameen’s government is lost,” he said.
The Former President said that the Coni report is a report agreed by many political parties and therefore the parties should agree that the legitimacy of a government will be lost once they annual their coalition.
“The people do not want to unite all powers to one person. The people want a government with many leaders. This is evident in all past elections,” he said.
