Alleged lab-technician of the ‘IGMH HIV case’ departs to India

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital’s laboratory technician، Rajesh Kakanatau Baskaran، Indian international – who is strongly alleged to be responsible for the HIV blood transfusion case – had departed back to homeland.
According to the New Indian Express، Mr. Rajesh had landed in India back on Wednesday، sometime during midnight.
Preceding his departure، Criminal Court had ruled out the case of Mr. Rajesh’s alleged involvement of transfusing HIV Positive blood into a pregnant woman’s blood stream – will not be prosecuted in Maldives.
IGMH had received confirmation of the incident on 19th February 2014، however the news started making strong media circulations from 26th February onwards.
Two hearings of the case had taken place، however Criminal Court had sent back the case on the basis of insufficient evidence and lack of investigative procedures attended.
Rajesh had departed to India، amid Criminal Court’s order or house detention until trial conclusion.
