First joint commission meeting between Maldives and China concludes

The first joint commission meeting between China and Maldives in order to strengthen the economical and corporate ties has concluded.
Maldives Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed met with China’s Vice Minister for Commerce Gao Yan to discuss the ways of strengthening and developing the economy and corporate infrastructure between the two nations. Following this، the ceremony to sign China-led 21st century Silk Route plan was also held.
Gao Yan emphasized about the initiation of friendship between Maldives and China 42 years ago، which had thus seen a positive growth and that the relationship between the two nations، is an exemplary relation for a small nation and a big nation to have. He also noted that China had always extended their assistance and help to Maldives whenever needed، and similarly China aided Maldives on the recent water crisis in the capital city، by providing water and financial aids as well and he had also expressed at a time when the ties of two nations have become more stable and strong، China is right beside Maldives to go along with the Maritime Silk Route project.
During the meeting، Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed had thanked Chinese government for their continuous support and help and also stated that Maldives is ready to participate actively in the Silk Route project. He had also said of having high hopes for the Free Trade agreement discussion to be a success and that it would be put to action soon.
Furthermore Minister Mohamed Saeed noted that the projects will prove beneficial to both nations economically.
Economic Minister also stated that China is always welcome to Maldives، and thanked for the support and aid China is giving for various development projects such as bridge construction and Male’ airport runway development.
