PG has no objection to Nasheed

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has been presented to court after the Police completed the execution of the order issued by the Hulhumale' Magistrate Court, ordering them to take Nasheed into custody and produce him to the court hearing held today.
Nasheed was presented to Hulhumale’ Court at 16:00 this evening.
Former President Nasheed carries charges under Article 81 of the Penal Code, for the illegal detention of Criminal Court Judge Abdulla Mohamed by utilizing the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), while acting as President and the foremost authority of the military.

17:36 – Nasheed’s trial hearings have been postponed by four weeks.
17:38 – Nasheed has exited from the court and left the area in a car.
17:46 – Nasheed’s lawyers said that the court was requested today to postpone the trial until the presidential election is over, and that the prosecutor general’s office had also said that they did not object to this suggestion. They said that the bench, however, decided that the trial can only be postponed by four weeks.
17:52 – MDP supporters who were protesting near FDI Station have left the area when Nasheed left the court. The area is now calm.
17:54 – The prosecutor general’s office told Nasheed’s lawyers that it had no objection to the trial being postponed by four weeks or until the election is over.
