According to the Maldives Hajj Corporation despite requests by some pilgrims to put them on a later flight, the return schedule would be the same as the departure schedule. The first group to depart, would return first.
Of the 2000 pilgrims that went for Hajj pilgrimage from Maldives this year, 1300 pilgrims went with Maldives Hajj Corporation. The remaining 700 pilgrims travelled with three private groups; Sisilfaru Hajj Group, Zaee Hajj Group and Mina Hajj Group.
While 2.3 million pilgrims that gathered to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage prepare to return, this Hajj has been punctuated with two incidents that resulted in massive loss of life.
While 109 people died in an accident when a crane fell into Masjid Al Haram, a stampede in Mina left over 700 dead and 800 injured.
