Maldives Media Council (MMC) on Saturday initiated various activities aimed at school students, to mark the World Press Freedom Day.
Two main activities; news reading and news writing were held at Ameeniyya School which received great support from students of various schools.
Member of MMC, Mohamed Farooq said that the main aim of these activities were to draw the interest of students to the field while giving them more information on how it all works.
The activities were held in two sessions; as such the news writing activities were held from 2:00pm till 4:00pm today. The news reading activities were held from 4:00pm till 7:30pm. A total of seven schools from Male' took part in the activities.
MMC revealed that a special prize would be awarded to the winning school of the activities. The prizes would be handed over during a special ceremony held to mark the occasion on May 03rd.
The World Press Freedom Day is marked on May 03rd annually.
