Statement on Maldivian to remain in Commonwealth removed from Foreign Ministry website

A statement publicized by the Commonwealth’s Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma - requesting the Maldives to remain in the Commonwealth, has been removed from the Maldivian Foreign Minstry’s website.
The Ministry has not given any reasons regarding the removal of the statement.
According to the statement, which was issued by the Foreign Ministry yesterday evening, Mr. Kamalesh Sharma had implored the Maldives to remain as a member of the group. He said this while meeting with Maldivian Foreign Secretary Ali Naseer, at a meeting in London.
In this meeting, the details of the case sent by the President to the Parliament - regarding guidance on the Maldives’ membership in the Commonwealth had been relayed as well.
While this news was removed three hours after it was posted on the website, some foreign media outlets had also posted the news.
The case on whether the Maldives should remain in the Commonwealth had been discussed on during the Cabinet meeting held on July 15, while the Parliament debated on it on July 20.
