Saeed: Continuous Promotion Vital for Maldives’ Investment Opportunities

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has emphasized the importance of consistently promoting investment opportunities in the Maldives to attract global investors.
His remarks followed the Maldives-UK Business Forum held in London, where more than 200 UK-based and UK-operating businesses explored potential investments in the Maldives across sectors such as tourism, fisheries, renewable energy, waste management, and financing.
Saeed noted the rising interest in renewable energy and environmental sectors alongside tourism, highlighting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s policy to generate 33% of the country’s energy from renewable sources by 2028. He also underlined the growing demand for Maldivian tuna in the UK market.
“Our objective is to sustain these efforts in the United Kingdom on a broader scale,” Saeed said in a social media post.
A memorandum of understanding was signed at the forum between the West London Chambers of Commerce and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to strengthen bilateral business relations. A high-level panel discussion titled “Investing in the Future: A Dialogue on Maldives Economic Vision” also provided an interactive platform for participants to exchange ideas with the Maldivian delegation.
