His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected Prime Minister of Nepal، K.P. Sharma Oli.
In his message، President Yameen extended sincere congratulations and best wishes to the new PM of Nepal on behalf of the people and Government of Maldives.
In his message، President also wished the new Nepalese PM fortitude in discharging he important duties of his position. President also said that he is confident that under the leadership of the new PM، Nepal will achieve new heights of progress and prosperity.
President Yameen also mentioned that he looks forward to working alongside the newly elected PM in further expanding the close ties of friendship shared by the two countries.
The Communist Party of K.P. Sharma Oli won the Nepalese elections by winning 338 seats of the parliament by achieving the support of 31 small political parties that contested for the parliament. Former PM، Sushil Koirala’s party won 249 seats.
The 63-year old PM، K.P. Sharma Oli was elected for the lower house of the parliament for the first time in the year 1991. However، since he had to fulfil political duties، he was unable to complete his formal education.
