The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has called for the dismissal of Umar Naseer، Minister of Home Affairs.
In a statement issued، the party said Umar is unfamiliar with the traits of a person in security services، and he is a person who has committed serious criminal offences.
MDP further said that Umar has no capacity to lead an investigation، whilst being the head of the Ministry overseeing the criminal investigations، as he has incapacitated himself for the position.
MDP noted that Home Minister Umar Naseer has been unable to ensure safety and protection for the people of the Maldives. The party also said that Umar has been unable to look into the assaults and threatening messages targeted to the political individuals.
In addition، the opposition party said that Umar has lost the trust of the people.
