Health Minister Abdullah Nazim has stated that malaria and filarial had been eliminated from the Maldives, adding that the same principles can be used to eliminate dengue.
He made the statement in the official certification ceremony marking the ‘Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis’ in the Maldives.
Minister Nazim addressed the ceremony and thanked the public and health sector workers who helped in entirely eliminating Lymphatic Filariasis in the Maldives. He also renewed the commitment of the administration to better the healthcare facilities in the Maldives. He also thanked WHO.
Stating that most of those who had worked in eliminating diseases had worked with minimal resources the Minister defined these individuals as national heroes.
