The Maldives has brought 1,227 tourist facilities into operation so far this year, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Tourism. This marks a 1.7% increase from the 1,207 facilities recorded at the end of last year.
The operational facilities include 175 resorts, 877 guesthouses, 159 safari vessels, and 16 hotels, providing a total of 64,373 beds. Resorts account for 44,047 beds, guesthouses 14,854 beds, safari vessels 3,162 beds, and hotels 2,310 beds.
Tourism arrivals have also seen a notable rise. By now, 1,195,693 tourists have visited the Maldives this year, representing a 9.5% increase compared to the same period last year. China remains the leading source market with 163,370 arrivals, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom in second and third places, respectively.
The figures highlight continued strong growth in both the tourism industry’s infrastructure and visitor numbers.
