Pres. highlights importance of healthy habits from childhood to prevent diseases

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Friday, has highlighted the importance of adopting healthy habits from childhood to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
He made the remark via a post on X on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, annually celebrated on November 14th.
In his post, the President stressed the importance of staying conscious of personal health—through diet, exercise, and daily habits—while emphasising the need for discipline to prevent unhealthy behaviours. He also extended his gratitude to NGOs and individuals for their ongoing work in promoting public awareness on these vital matters.
Preside Muizzu concluded his post by urging people to renew their commitment to nation-building and to work toward a prosperous future, calling on Maldivians to remain a healthy nation free from preventable illnesses.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed echoed similar sentiments via a post on X account, stating that creating a healthy Maldivian society is only possible through joint effort. She encouraged the public to seek knowledge on maintaining good health and to integrate healthy practices into everyday life.
She concluded by expressing optimism that, through collective action, the Maldives can become one of the countries least impacted by NCDs such as diabetes, while also emerging as a leader in offering dependable care for those affected by these conditions.
Notably, Maldives is conducting a nationwide screening program across the country in commemoration of this year’s World Diabetes Day.
