No valid reason to defame Maldives internationally: Economic Minister

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said that there was no valid justifiable reason to defame Maldives at the international arena, as the world had accepted the country.
Speaking at the launch ceremony of the new passports and e-gate at Hotel Jen, Minister Saeed said that respect for Maldives was rising rapidly in Europe, which is seen in the large number of European arrivals.
Minister Saeed further said that the diplomatic relations between Maldives, Germany and UK had enhanced to an all time high. He added that the rising number of UK visitors gave credence to this fact.
He further added that if any individual had seen the beauty of the country, even if it was from a picture, they desire to come to the country, describing it as paradise on earth.
Minister Saeed said that Maldives was developing rapidly in the economic sector. He added that in the first two years of President Yameen’s tenure the state had managed to resolve most of the economic issues without selling the assets of the nation.
“The budget is reaching to a balance. The debts and inflation rates have been lowered. International financial institutions are talking about how the national reserve had been increased,” Minister Saeed said.
