Maldives sees 6.5 percent surge in tourist arrivals

The number of tourists visiting the Maldives thus far this year has reached 411,000.
According to the Tourism Ministry, a total of 411,290 tourists visited the Maldives as of Tuesday. This marks an increase of 25,073 tourists, or 6.5 percent, compared to the same period last year when arrivals stood at 386,217.

The data shows that 69 percent of the tourists, or 283,847 visitors, spent their holidays in resorts, while 25.8 percent, equivalent to 106,053 visitors, opted for guesthouses. Additionally, 11,261 tourists stayed in hotels and 9,855 tourists stayed on safaris, while 274 tourists spent their holidays at other facilities.
The Maldives currently has 172 resorts, 795 guesthouses, 155 safari vessels and 15 hotels operating in the Maldives.
