A delegation from Saudi Arabia arrived in the Maldives on Monday to attend the Hajj and Umrah Conference scheduled for 11 December. Led by Bandar bin Abdullah Al-Rajhi, Chairman of the Al-Safwa Foundation, the group is expected to meet with the Minister of Islamic Affairs and the Supreme Council for Fatwa. Their programme also includes engagements with the Maldives Hajj Corporation, the National Centre for the Holy Quran and local religious leaders, alongside a presentation on the foundation’s initiatives.
The conference will bring together a broad range of service providers and reflects President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to strengthen the national system for pilgrimage administration. By fostering closer coordination between private companies and the Islamic Affairs Ministry, the event seeks to expand service capacity and deepen religious awareness among pilgrims. Panel discussions and keynote addresses will feature scholars and institutional representatives, continuing a series of ministry-led symposiums aimed at reinforcing the nation’s religious framework.
