Defense Minister Adam Shareef has assured that the armed forces will not allow the deposing of a legally elected Government.
Speaking in Coast Guard building Defense Minister said that will always protect the state, its national treasures, as well as the Constitution. He added that the military will not allow the overthrow of a legally-elected government.
He further stated that the Maldivian military has always been at the service of its people, since the formation of the service. The Minister said that the military will never compromise national safety, security and integrity in any situation.
His statements came amid revelations that an illegally obtained and acquired court order for the arrest of President Yameen had surface. Rumors that former President Mohamed Nasheed had called a senior official at the military to arrest President Yameen had also surfaced.
