Siyam urges vigilance on Victory Day

Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) President and Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has called on the public to remain steadfast in defending the nation from any threat to its peace and independence.
Delivering a message on the occasion of Victory Day, Siyam described the November 3, 1988 coup attempt as the most dangerous attack on Maldivian sovereignty in recent history. He said the memories of that day will never be forgotten.
Siyam noted that the events of November 3 revealed the presence of traitors within the country and emphasized the importance of remaining alert to such threats.
“I advise all Maldivians to remain firm in their noble resolve to do everything necessary to defend the country from all attacks that may disrupt our freedom and peaceful interests,” he said.
He also urged citizens to commit to patriotism and prioritize national interest above all.
Victory Day is observed to commemorate the defeat of a joint attack by six Maldivian conspirators and foreign mercenaries, and to honor the sacrifices made by the Maldivian military in defending the nation.
