Countless endeavors made in 2015: Education Minister

Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham has announced that the Academic Year that ended in 2015, was a year with many acheievements.
In her speech marking the end of the Academic Year 2015, the Minister said that they have made progress to a new stage of national syllabus, as well as being able to teach students of some grades with the new syllabus and books.
She added that a new syllabus was also established and taught for foundation stage grades as well.
Dr. Shiham noted that 436 students alone received the opportunity to go for higher education in endeavors on competing school education to go for further studies. She added that more than 1,600 students are currently receiving education in a government bid to increase the number of people with skills that are essential to the development of the country.
She went on to say that they have opened the program for students to learn job skills as well. Noting that there are already 1,100 students in the program, Shiham said that it was a great accomplishment. In her speech, she noted that improving the quality of teachers is vital in increasing the quality of education; therefore the government has brought changes to the framework of teachers while also increasing their salaries.
Dr. Shiham added that as of now, 1100 teachers were undergoing diploma level training after changes to the framework. Under the new framework, the basic requirement for teachers was set as diploma level. The Minister remarked that training such a huge number of teachers was one of the success stories of this year.
The Minister announced that they are following President Abdulla Yameen's policy of having no child left behind and have begun teaching educational and skill development classes. The state spent MVR 432 million in 2015 to improve the education sector.
Speaking about the steps being taken to ensure student safety, Minister Shiham said that they have already finished health screening of students in grade one. She also added that an emergency policy has also being established, outing the procedure to follow in case of Sr.
Shiham said that the results of the accomplishments in the education sector is already apparent.
Concluding her speech, she thanked President Yameen for his vision and guidance and thanked the parents for their assistance and hard work.
