Rain offers respite from blazing heat ahead of Ramadan

The national weather agency forecasts widespread rain across the Maldives for the next two days, offering a respite from the recent scorching weather conditions as the country prepares to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the calendar, Ramadan will begin on Saturday.
The Maldivian capital experienced rainfall on Thursday morning – offering a respite from the recent hot spell.
Maldives Meteorological Service said on Thursday morning that it forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms in southern and central Maldives and scattered showers in the north for the next 24 hours.
The rainy weather conditions are expected to prevail over the next two days, and begin to clear up on Monday – on day three of Ramadan.
The weather agency forecasts north to northeasterly winds at 8 – 18 miles per hour, with gusts of 35 miles per hour during showers.
Seas are expected to be moderate becoming rough during showers, with waves of 3 – 16 feet.
